Franchise profile – CTM
CTM is a division of the Italtile Limited Group, and is the country’s biggest specialist tile and bathroom retailer. This very high profile brand is recognised throughout Africa and enjoys a loyal following from its broad customer base.
CTM franchises experience strong customer volumes due to their ability to extend a good quality / good value offering. Innovation, responsiveness to evolving consumer demand, and enthusiastic professional service are the hallmarks of CTM.
CTM commenced trading in 1983 and began franchising its outlets in 1991. The brand is currently represented by 87 stores in South Africa, the SADEC region, Kenya, Uganda and Australia.
The Group is managed according to a set of core values:
• Integrity and transparency
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Customer passion
• creating partnerships to promote entrepreneurial spirit
• A hands-on approach
• Effective team leadership
• Business acumen
• The ability to keep learning
In this light, CTM is very selective in the appointment of its Franchisees. The success of the company depends on the day to day commitment and hands on approach of the Franchisee - it is thus a prerequisite that every CTM franchise is run by an owner / manager.
An ideal CTM Franchisee will have a proven entrepreneurial track record and an ability to maximise the market potential of the business.
The franchisee will also display an innate sense of fashion and design.
The candidate must be committed to the long hours required of a retailer and be a passionate hands-on operator, dedicated to a strong service ethic. An ability to motivate staff is important, as is the need to be innovative, proactive and responsive to changing market needs.
As part of a broader organisation, the franchisee must be prepared to uphold the values of the Italtile Group, understand the need to adhere to the operating standards of the brand and share in the value that participation in reward and decision making at all levels of an organisation enhances its profitability.
An initial franchise fee from R500 000,

Application will only be considered if the prospective franchisee is prepared to undergo a full time hands-on in store training for 6-12 months to become thoroughly conversant with the CTM way
CTM provides support to its franchise network in critical business areas both before and after the opening of the franchise. The Group will assist franchisees in the following key areas: operations; training; distribution; marketing; payroll and information technology.
